Live Blackjack: The Lowest House Edge Table Game

Expert Insight & Editorial Independence

When played with mathematically optimal basic strategy, Live Blackjack offers a 99.50% RTP (0.50% house edge), making it the single best game for skilled players.

Quick Summary (TL;DR)

Blackjack pits your card decisions against the house dealer. Build a hand total closer to 21 than the dealer without going bust. Naturals pay 3:2 with split and double down options.

When Should You Double Down in Blackjack?

You should double down when you hold a hard total of 11 (against any dealer up-card 2 through 10) or a hard 10 (against dealer 2 through 9). Doubling doubles your initial bet in exchange for receiving exactly one final card.

Mastering Standard Basic Strategy

Basic strategy eliminates emotional guessing by following proven mathematical probabilities based on your total and the dealer's visible up-card.

Golden rules include: always split Aces and 8s, never split 10s or 5s, hit hard 12 through 16 when dealer shows 7 or higher, and stand on 12 through 16 when dealer shows 2 through 6.

Why You Should Always Decline Insurance

When the dealer shows an Ace, the table offers insurance paying 2:1 against dealer blackjack. Mathematically, insurance carries a punishing 7.4% house edge in an 8-deck shoe.

Professional blackjack players consistently decline insurance to protect their bankroll over the long haul.
